Here’s how to verify genuine communications from us
We’ve been alerted to a scam we’d like our clients and other stakeholders to be aware of.
People purporting to be representatives of Teneu Legal have set up Whatsapp and Facebook groups having taken our details and some content from our website. They are offering services – which they are not legally qualified to execute – and asking for money.
While it’s concerning that people are appropriating our name and brand, our more immediate concern is that people may fall victims to this scam. Therefore, we have written this guide to give some tips on verifying genuine communications from us.
Communications in General
We do not use Facebook Messenger, Twitter or Whatsapp to communicate with clients.
We do use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for general legal updates and other communications connected with immigration law and policy. Our official accounts on these platforms are:
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TeneuLegal
Twitter: https://twitter.com/TeneuLegal
Legal: https://www.linkedin.com/company/70917400
Emails
When receiving emails from us, check that they come from a genuine teneulegal.com email address. You can do this by looking at the domain name the email comes from. We only send emails from email addresses that end in @teneulegal.com
Telephone Calls and Video Conferences
Before calls or meetings on video conferencing apps, we’ll have been in touch by email to arrange a suitable time and date. You will be advised who you are meeting with ahead of time.
Bills & Payments
If we are instructed to undertake work for you, we’ll outline either in writing our costs and the arrangements we have come to for your case. Invoices sent will be sent by email from an official teneulegal.com email address and you will be invited to pay either by BACS (bank transfer) or online by debit/credit card. We do not ask for funds to be sent via Paypal or other money transfer apps such as Venmo etc.
If you receive messages on messaging apps, by email or on social sites purporting to be from us, then please alert us by emailing our Principal Solicitor: blair.melville@teneulegal.com
